Subject: Vietnam Women's Memorial Year: 1993 Sculptor: Glenna Goodacre Location: Potomac Park ( Constitution Ave. & 23rd ) Thousands of women served in Vietnam in numerous capacities. The Women's Memorial was created to remember their contributions. The names of eight women appear on the Wall and they are represented here by eight yellowwood trees planted around the plaza. Goodacre purposely left it to the observer to decide what the women in the sculpture are doing. It is interesting to note that the figures of the women and the soldier bring to mind Michelangelo's famous sculpture Pieta. Photos and text copyright © 2001 Jean K. Rosales and Michael R.
